If you want to follow the development of PyTables and take part in it, you may have a look at the PyTables Trac pages. Also, be sure to subscribe to the users' mailing list (search).
Remember that the PyTables Subversion repository is publicly available for up-to-the-minute source. If you want to do your own development, you may use the Bazaar-NG branch hosted at Launchpad (bzr branch lp:pytables).
